The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has asked candidates to register at its official portal cisce.org to appear for compartmental and improvement exams for ICSE and ISC boards 2020. The last date to apply is September 22, 2020.

Candidates, who are not satisfied with the marks given to them can also apply for the exams as per the new marking scheme. Those students will have to contact their respective school heads for the same.

The board also informed in the official release that marks obtained in the compartmental or improvement exams will be considered as final and no other exam will be held by CISCE. 

The CISCE had earlier declared the board results for class 10 and 12 exams, respectively. The pass percentage of the ICSE exams is at 99.33 percent whereas the pass percentage of the ISC exams is at 96.8 percent. A total of 2.06 lakh candidates in the ICSE and 85,611 in ISC have cleared the ISC exam.

For ICSE, as many as 54.19 percent students who appeared for the exam were boys while 45.81 percent were girls while for ISC, 53.65 percent of students were boys and 46.35 percent were girls.

The CISCE has decided to reduce the syllabus by 25 percent for the 2020-21 academic year due to the “significant shortening of the academic year and loss of the instructional hours” in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a press release by the board, “While a number of CISCE affiliated schools have tried to adapt to this changed scenario and have tried to keep alive the teaching-learning process through online classes, there has been a significant shortening of the academic year and loss of the instructional hours.”
