During the academic session 2022-23, Haryana’s Minister for Higher Education, Mool Chand Sharma, revealed that there is a 35 percent vacancy in engineering seats across state government institutions and universities. Out of a total of 5,151 engineering seats available, 3,394 seats have been filled, leaving 35 percent vacant.

Minister Sharma provided this information in response to a query presented by MLA Sanjay Singh during a session of the state Assembly. Presently, there are four state government engineering colleges and twelve state universities that provide BE/BTech programs, according to the minister.

Moreover, there are additional options for pursuing BE/BTech courses, including four central government institutes, state-affiliated universities, and a government-aided institute. The minister added that there is also one privately run engineering college.

Meanwhile, it was noted by Sharma that Nuh district currently has one government-aided engineering college and one private engineering college in operation. Furthermore, during the academic session 2022-23, Mewat Engineering College Nuh (Government Aided) has a high vacancy rate of 54 percent for its available seats.
