The dates of the 2023 ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations will be announced shortly, Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations said.

The ISC is expected to begin by middle of February and ISC is likely to start by February end, Arathoon told EducationWorld.

“Preparations for announcing the schedule for the 2023 ICSE and ISC examinations are going on in full swing. The dates will be announced as soon as the process gets completed,” said Arathoon.

In 2022, the council had divided the ICSE and ISC into two semesters because of the Covid. With the subsiding of the Covid scare, the council had announced in May about its decision to go back to the pre-Covid single board exam after the end of the 2022-23 academic year.

For finalizing the exam dates, the council needs to get the data from all its affiliated schools regarding the choice of subjects of their candidates. Some schools are yet to send the details. The exact dates will be announced once all the details reach the council, the CISCE chief said.

The ICSE and ISC dates were  usually announced in the first or second week of December before the Covid, a principal of a ICSE school said. “ Now that the council has come back to the pre-Covid norms, we are expecting the 2023 exam dates to be announced before the start of the winter vacation,” he said.

In 2023, both ICSE and ISC exams will be conducted following the pre-Covid norms, according to Arathoon.

The CISCE had conducted the ICSE and ISC in full length in 2019 for the last time.

In 2020 the written exams in some papers could not be held because of the nationwide lockdown. In 2021 the board exams were not held at all and students were awarded marks on the basis of internal tests held by the schools. In 2022 the board exams were divided into two semesters.

In 2019 the ICSE had started on February 22 and the ISC theory papers began on February 15.
